Welcome to the Laboratory of Microbiology
Research in our laboratory is focused on bacterial ecology and on mycology.
The main research objective of our laboratory is to understand microbe/environment interactions, as well as interactions between microorganisms, specially between bacteria and fungi and between bacteria and protists.
This applies to both natural and artificial systems. Microscopical observations, establishment of microcosm models, bacterial and fungal isolation and culturing as well as molecular biology are the main methodological approaches used to answer complex ecological questions related to the bacterial communities development in the environment. Our current projects focus on poorly-know microorganisms including endospore-forming bacteria, oxalate-consuming bacteria, actinobacteria, and saprophytic fungi.
How to find us
A delegation from the laboratory to the inauguration of the Park Legende D’automne on September 19, 2014.
An innovative and unique concept in Europe, where the artworks are highlighted with the biopatina treatment, developed by the Laboratory of Microbiology of the University of Neuchâtel. A bronze sculpture park in promenade Schnetzler Lausanne that is accessible for blind and partially-sighted persons where a itinerary of 18 scenes to be touched tell “Légende d’Automne”, a tale written by artist and sculptor Sara H.
