To honor the 250th anniversary of Jean-Jacques Rousseau's birth, the institute is proud to host the 20th annual North American Society for the Study of Romanticism Conference in co-operation with the University of Zurich. The conference will be held in Neuchâtel from 15-20 August 2012. Approximately 250 participants from North America, Europe and the rest of the world will present their work, and there will be four plenary sessions.

In addition to the regular conference, we are planning two full days of excursions to Romantic sites in Switzerland on 13-14 August, as well as several Rousseau-related events doing the conference period itself, including a fondue in the Val de Travers, a boat trip to the Island of St. Pierre, and local visits to the Rousseau exhibit at the Bibliothèque Publique et Universitaire and to the Botanical Gardens.
